We may think that the introduction of magnet is through the western science. Our ancestors handled it marvelously before several hundred years itself. Even though we are having this information, it is our shame and fault for not using it in proper manner.
In the previous post, we have seen the information about the Siththars usage of magnet in alchemy and also regarding the five types of the magnets. Following statements are given by Bogar in his poems.
All these are natural magnets which are dig out from the earth. After breaking the curse, usable magnets are taken out from the hole.
We have obtained rarest information that, vessels made of these natural magnets are employed in the alchemy process. We do not find any scientific usage of magnetic vessels nowadays. However, several hundred years before, Siththars used the magnets for making vessels.
The following poem gives out the information concerning the magnetic vessel making process.
என்றதொரு மஞ்சள் நிறக் காந்தம்

ஏற்றமதாய் கிட்டாட்டால் ஊசி ஏழு

மன்றதோர்தன் பிடிக்கின்ற காந்தம் வாங்கிப்

The yellow colour magnet or oosi kaantham should be chopped to cereal size and boiled in vinegar. Then, it should be boiled along with horse gram and dried on the same day. Then, make seelai and bury it inside earth up to 3 days.
Then, 10 palam* of magnet is mixed along with 1 palam veeram, 1 palam panchamithram. The above mixture is then grinded and made as tablet and kajapudam is performed on those tablets, as told by Bogar. After that, these magnet mixture tablets is melted by blowing through bellow and the molten magnet is placed in earthenware and placed in kugai which is then blown 5 times. Then the whole thing should be melted 11 times by adding add kaaram.
Along with this molten magnetic mixture, 1 part of gold is added and then the molten mixture is allowed to settle in wax set. Thus finally we get the magnet vessel. In this poem, we get procedural information from collecting natural magnet to vessel making. However, reader can felt that, some information was kept hidden. We might get some useful information in this regard, if we continue to do research activities with nowadays scientific development.
These magnetic vessels were employed in the alchemy process. Bogar gives out the following magical information of magnetic vessel. The oil drop will not spread in the water placed in magnetic vessel. Moreover, the peanut placed in that magnetic vessel get darkened. The smell of asafeotida placed in magnetic vessel will be faded out. The milk boiled in the magnetic vessel will not spill out. The bitterness of gall-nut will be faded. The boiling water poured in magnetic vessel will be cooled instantly.
