The Paashana forest in the Sathuragiri Mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

The nature God has given all the features that the Siththars require both internally and externally for their search and hence the Sathuragiri Mountain is considered as the head quarters of the Siththars. In the past twenty three posts we have seen all about the Siththars, their ashrams, caves, the way to reach that caves, the streams on the way, rivers, forests, herbs in those forests, udhaga water, fountains and temples.

We shall see about the one that we left to see in that sequence. The important ingredient that we use in the preparation of the alchemy and in the siddha medicine is the paashanam (arsenics). It is an element which is as strong as metal, and is as intense as poison. To know more information about it, you can read my previous post, ‘What is Paashanam?’.

This paashanam can be categorized into two major types. They are piravip paashanam and vaippup paashanam. The piravi paashanam can be found in nature. There is a story that the statue of Lord Muruga present in Pazhani which is made out of navapaashanam has been made in Sathuragiri Mountain only.  But there is no information regarding this in the songs of the Siththars.

If that statue has been made in the Sathuragiri Mountain then all those paashanam has to be present here. While searching for answers to these questions in the songs of Agathiyar and Bogar, I found certain rare information. Yes paashanam is there in the Sathuragiri Mountain. We shall see that it is present in the Sathuragiri Mountain in the words of Agathiyar.

"பெருமையாம் சதுரகிரி வளப்பஞ்சொல்வேன்
Pperumaiyaam Sathuragiri valappanjsolvaen
nutpamudan Pulasthiyanae punithavaanae
paalaana daesamellaam thirinthuvanthaen
paalaganae Sathuragiri valappameththa
laesaana kaattagaththae thirinthukandaen
sangamudan Sathuragiri kizakkaeyappaa
sattamudan paadaanak kaadukandaen
nalamaperiya bhoomiyellaam sunnakkaadu
pattayampoal sunaiyundu thoappumundu
paalaganae kandaen yaavungkandaen”

(Agathiyar)

“I have gone around the entire world and have seen the Sathuragiri Mountain also. In the eastern side of the Sathuragiri Mountain at the way which can be easily entered, I found paashanam” says Agathiyar. Calcium will be seen in abundance at this land of the forest. He says that there is fountain and garden at the middle of the forest. In the following songs he says about the various kinds of paashanams and their uses.

Isn’t it interesting fact? The land at the forest in the eastern side of the Sathuragiri mountain has abundance of calcium. The one who is interested or the researchers can involve in further researches.

I shall complete this series of Sathuragiri Mountain with the next post.

Attaining eternal bliss in Sathuragiri Mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

The highest state of wisdom is attaining eternal bliss. The way to attain this is not simple at all. This is possible only under the guidance of guru with his blessings, serious intention and continuous attempts. Agathiyar has told about the way of attaining eternal bliss in Sathuragiri Mountain in the following way.

"கேளடா சதுரகிரியின் வளமைதன்னை
kaeladaa sathuragiriyin valamaithannai
kaanbavarkku kethimoatchang kittungittung
aaladaa sathuragiri enkoanamaagum
arulaana koanamellaam kugaithaanundu
soolada kirimudiyi kugaithaanundu
sonna kugai onbathilum navasiththar
thaladaa sirappudanae thavasupanni
thannarulaal pirammaya maanaarpaarae”

(Agathiyar)

Sathuragiri Mountain is in the shape of an octagon. On the eight corners and at the centre, totally at 9 places there are caves located. In these 9 caves nava Siththars did meditation and attained the brahma state. The one visits all these nine caves can attain eternal bliss says Agathiyar to his disciple Pulathiyar.

The Sathuragiri Mountain is spread over an area of 500 sq.km. In the olden days this area might have been even larger. All the efforts and experiences that one faces to go to all the eight corners, nine caves will make us matured with our thoughts. I feel this itself will help to attain the eternal bliss. From the song it is obvious that the Sathuragiri Mountain is in the shape of octagon.

Like this there is much other information about the Sadhuragiri Mountain. We shall see them in the next posts.

The hidden treasure in the Sathuragiri Mountain - 02

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Let us see more interesting things that is said to be hidden in the Sathuragiri Mountain and is told by Agathiyar. All the information that I have shared regarding the Sathuragiri Mountain has been taken from the songs of the Siththars only. In that sequence today let us see about a song that has been written by Agathiyar in his book “Agathiyar 12000”.

"பெருமையாம் சதுரகிரி மேற்கேயப்பா
perumaiyaam sathuragiri maerkaeyappaa
paeraana kugaiyonru kulamumundu
arumaiyaam udhagamenra sunaiyumundu
appanae paathaalak kinarumundu
orumaiyaam kinatrarugi kidaaramundu
oahoho naathaakkal vaththavaippu
varumaiyathu vaaraathu kandapaerkku
valamperiya latchumiyum vaasamundae"

(Agathiyar)

‘In the west of the Sathuragiri Mountain you can find a cave, pond, udhaga fountain, and a deep well. In that deep well you can find a boiler which is used by the Siththars for storage purposes. Those go there and have a look at this wil not encounter poverty in their life time. Along with this Lakshmi, goddess of wealth will reside with you’ says Agathiyar.

There are many other songs related to this. If I share them it may lead to arousal of many unnecessary thoughts in the mind of the readers. Hence I wish to stop with this.  In the next post, I shall share the way of attaining eternal bliss told by Agathiyar.

The hidden treasure in the Sathuragiri Mountain - 01

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Let us see about something which is said to be the hidden treasure in the Sathuragiri Mountain. I shall share the information which is taken from Agathiyar’s book named “Yaema thathuvam”. It is a very ancient book, I do not think it is being published now-a-days. The one I have was published centuries back.

A Siththar named Asuviniyaar has wrote all his experiences in a book regarding herbs, the tricks that can be done using them, and temples. The name of the book is “Karma Kaandam”. Agathiyar says that this book with 12000 songs has been written for the benefit of Asuviniyar’s disciples. He says it in the following way.

"நூலான பெருநூலா மின்னூல்போல
noolaana perunoolaa minnoolpoaa
nunakkamudan kollavae vaerillai
paalaana noolithu perunoolappaa
paalaganae asuviniyaar yenthamakku
kaalaana pathikandu thadamungandu
maalaana perunoolaam karmakaandam
aamaethaan panneeraa yiranthaanappaa
appanae karmakaandam thaamuraiththaar
paemaethaan saththa saakaranthirinthu
pongamudan maanaakkal pizhaikkavenru
thaamaethan paadivaiththaar karmakaandam"

(Agathiyar)

This book which has got many useful and rare information and hence Asuviniyaar felt that it must be used only by his disciples and so he has hidden it in the Sathuragiri Mountain. Agathiyar says where and how that book is hidden in the Sathuragiri Mountain in the following song.

"தாரணியில் சதுரகிரி மேற்கேபாலா
thaaraniyil sathuragiri maerkaepaalaa
naamaethaan sonnapadi surangamappaa
naayaganae paathaala varaiyundaamae

kuraineekki utsenraal siththarkaaval
kurippudanae yavarmaatha manjaliththu"

(Agathiyar)

"குறமான கர்மகாண்டம் பெருநூலப்பா
kuramaana karmakaandam perunoolappaa
kuruparanae kaanbatharkku vanthaenenru
neediyathoar nedungaala arulkaanavaendi
nishkalanga maagavalloa vidaiyumkaana

aramathuvum vazhuvaama punniyavaanae
angnganamae nookandu vaanguveerae”

(Agathiyar)

On the west side of the mountain you will find a raised ground and behind it we can find a cave hidden. At its entrance, Anjaneya is protecting the cave.  On crossing him you can find a Siththar protecting. After reaching to him, bow to him and tell him that you have come to clarify your doubt and to see the Karmakaandam book. On saying so, seek his blessings and get the book from him.

"வாங்குவாய் யின்னமொரு மார்க்கஞ்சொல்வேன்
vaanguvaai yinnamoru maarkkanjsolvae
valamudaiya panjaalliya Pulaththiyaakael
thiruvaana govindhaa gopaalakael
theerkamudan unthamakku yaavumeernthu
perumayudan nookoduththu vaziyunjsolli
paeraana vambalaththai thiranthukaatti
thurayaana nool koduththu vaziyungoori
nutpamudan pothikaikku yaekenbaarae"

(Agathiyar)

You must stay back there to read the book. If we get any doubt, the Siththar who is present there will clarify it accurately and from also he will open ambalam and tell you the way of reaching to the Podhigai Mountain. Isn’t this a surprising fact?

Though we have many doubts about this information we can find if there is an elevated ground and a cave in the western side of the mountain. Mostly it might be a cave where many monkeys are living.  Agathiyar might have told it as being protected by Anjaneya. Those who are interested can pray to the guru and attempt to do.

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

The information about the rare and wonderful herbs in the Sathuragiri Mountain continues in this post also. As there are many other important information to share about the Sathuragiri Mountain, I thought to finish this series already. But as there is little very important information that is to be shared, I will share them and then finish this series. You can find certain important information about the Sathuragiri Mountain which you never heard of.

Let us continue about the herbs that are present in the Sathuragiri Mountain.

Potralaikkarippaan

If we go to the south side from the kuruvarikkatraalai herb that I mentioned in the previous post, you can find this herb at a distance an arrow can travel. Its fruit will look like pepper. If we crush its leaves with hand, you will feel a kind of burning sensation in hands. If we mix that juice with the arsenics and do pudamiduthal, then itwill result as sendhooram*. If we apply that sendhooram, we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Udhiravaengai

These are found in adequate at the forest of Kalangi muni. It will look like vaengai tree and its bottom will be black in color. If we poke this tree you get milk in red color. That milk will be helpful to make effects on the metals. Add udhiravaengai’s milk to that effected metal and melt it. It will change into gold. If we do pudamiduthal to the gold, it will form as sendhooram. If we eat that sendhooram for a week, we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Saayavirutcham

In the northern side of the Yugimuni’s forest we can find an elevation of mud. Across that area, we can find this herb. It is also named as Nizharkaandhan. Its shadow does not fall on ground. It is in the color of ash and leaves look like the leaves of poon tree. The fruit will be like suranda vellarikkai. If we remove the bark of the tree, we will get milk in blue color. If we add the milk to the mercury and do suriyapudam, mercury will become solid. Take it and make sendhooram out of it.  Add ghee to that sendhooram and consume it for 48 days to attain kaaya siddhi.

Senthaadupaavai

If we go to the northern side from the Saayavirutcham herb that I mentioned above in the post, we can find this herb. It looks like kuththukkarai plant. Its leaf look like the leaf of sammatti tree. If we take its juice and mercury and melt it, mercury will be soidified. Take this solid mercury and dip in the milk of this tree for seven days and then do pudamiduthal. This results in the formation of sendhooram and add it with the cow’s ghee and consume for a week to attain kaaya siddhi.

With this the post, the rare herbs in the Sathuragiri Mountain series comes to an end. In the next post we shall meet with another interesting information about Sathuragiri Mountain.

Herbs of the Sathuragiri Mountain that helps in attaining Kaaya Siddhi - 01

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

There are some thousands of songs that narrate about the greatness of the herbs that is present in the Sathuragiri Mountain. If those were collected together and if researches were done,  then the siddha medicine would have reached up to the first place in the medication world wide. I always worry that we have missed such a great opportunity. Even now it is not late. If the government of Tamilnadu and the people who are interested in the siddha medicine join hands, we can bring them to the notice of a huge number of people.

All the herbs which I was sharing since my last three posts are related to those in Sathuragiri Mountain only. As a continuation to that let us see about three more herbs today.

Vanapirami

This is present to the right of the vennaaval trees that I have mentioned in the previous post.  This will be spread like a creeper. Its leaves are as thick as the leaves of amla tree. Pluck the herb on sunday by relieving its curses and crush its roots into powder. If we mix it with the ferment vinegar and drinking it for 30 days, we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Muppirandai

This herb is near to the vanapirami creeper. It will be like ordinary pirandai (square-stalked vine). Pluck this herb and make juice of it. Using this we can able to solidify mercury. Immediately mix solid mercury with naagam and naagam gets solidified. Take kendhi to the equal measure of mixture of both mercury and naagam, then mix all with the extract of muppirandai and do pudamiduthal. We will get sendhooram* and by eating it, we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Kuruvarikkatraalai

On the northern side of the Sathuragiri Mountain you can find this herb. It will be in the size of the thumb finger. It will grow to a height of 1.5 span. We can find lines across its body. Pluck this herb by relieving its curses. Crush the roots and extract the juice from it. Take a sheet of iron and dip it in this juice, it will turn into copper. Make it as sendhooram and eat to attain kaaya siddhi.

Wonderful herbs of the Sathuragiri Mountain: 03

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

The information about the rare herbs of Sathuragiri Mountain continues in this post also.

Vennaaval

In the most of the trees seen in the western side of the Sathuragiri Mountain, Vennaaval virutcham  is one important tree among them. Its flower, fruit will be white in color. Remove the upper layers of the bark and take the inner layers and make kuzhith thailam out of it. If we rub that thailam on the slightly heated copper sheet for 40 times it will turn into silver. If we change that silver to sendhooram* and mix with the powder of the vennaava tree bark. Eat 488 mg of that powder six times a day for three days. Then we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Kanaierumai Virutcham

In the Sathuragiri Mountain if we walk towards west of the Nandeeswarar ashram for a while we can find this tree. It will look like South Indian mahua tree. Its fruit will be round in shape. If anybody stands under the tree, then the tree will sound like a buffalo. If we prick the tree we will get milk. If we drink that milk for four days we will get swoon. If someone gives cow’s milk to drink at regular intervals, we may get relieved from swoon and will attain kaaya siddhi.

Pavalaththuththi

To the north of the kanaierumai tree, at a distance an arrow can travel, we find this plant. It looks like marshmallow plant and the leaves tip are red in color. The leafstalk and its stem are red in color too. Its flower is in color of coral. If we powder the leaves and add it to the cow’s milk and drink for a week we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Uroamavirutcham

If we walk 48 minutes downwards to the Ramadevar’s ashram we can find more uroamavirutcham trees. It will be in the colour of ash. Its branches will be like hairs and if we touch it will as soft as cotton. Its bark has to crushed into powder without the help of the iron. Take thirikadi piramanam* quantity of it and mix in honey and eat for 48 days to attain kaaya siddhi. The urine of the person who attains this kaaya siddhi have effect on the panchaloga*.

(There is a story which says that the urine of Sivavaakkiyar has changed iron and it turned into gold. That’s because he might have ate some kaya kalpa of this kind.)

If we make hole one this tree’s bark and pour mercury in the hole and cover the hole by tree’s bark itself. If you see it after 45 days, it will become solid. Take the bark of this tree, grind it with that solid and make a shield. Do pudamiduthal and melt to solid balls. If we put that solid mercury ball in mouth then the cut through a knife or a hit by an arrow causes no harm. Also we can prevent white hairs, wrinkles, aging, diseases and attain kaaya  siddhi.

*Sendhooram – any chemical or metallic compound used medicinally
*Thirikadi Piramanam – the quantity taken using the tip of three fingers
*Panchaloga  - the five metals of gold, iron, copper, lead and silver

The information about the rare herbs in the Sathuragiri Mountain continues in this post also. We shall see about certain herbs which has been told as special and rare species in the puranas and the epics.

Karpaga Tharu

This tree which has been named as the karpaga tharu or panja tharu is present beind the temple of Mahalingar. It has been told that the tree contains five different kinds of branches and each one of them has got distinct kinds of leaves. With this only we can easily identify the tree. If we one pana edai* quantity of the bark of this tree then we can get rid of all the diseases. Also if we hit this tree it will shed
milk and if we drink it for 48 days we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Sanjeevi herb

You might have heard the story in the Ramayana that the entire mountain has been uprooted for the need of one single herb. This herb has got various names like Sanjeevini herb, the herb that won lord Yama, Thasaiyotti herb. The leaf of this tree will be like that of the small neem leaves. This is kuththu plant. If we pour a pinch of the leaf’s juice into the nose and blow, even the dead ones can be given life. Also if we apply this juice at the places where the cuts/wounds are present then it will rejoin and the person will wake up as if he just woke up from sleep. Those who have got swoon, for them if we blow with the herb they will get relieved from it. If we just inhale the air that comes after touching this tree, it will increase the life time and helps in attaining kaaya siddhi.

Uroama vaengai

In the Sathuragir Mountain there is a rock named Sangili paarai. To its south east this uroama vaengai tree is present. This is as soft as East Indian kino tree and it is in the colour of ashes. This branch will be hanging like the hair of the deer. If we pluck the bark of this tree then milk will shed like blood. If we apply that milk to gold then it will become parpam. If we eat that we can attain kaaya siddhi.

Katraamarai

There is a forest named Kalangi vanam in the Sathuragiri Mountain. To its north there is water damp ground. On that ground you can find this herb. If we touch one leaf of this herb, it would bloom into four more leaves. The roots of the tree will be like a plot of the women’s hair. If we insert an iron nail into its roots and remove it will turn into a copper nail. Later if we again insert and remove that copper nail at another place in the roots,it would turn into silver nail. If we again insert and remove that silver nail at another place in the roots, it would turn into gold nail. Also if we press that nail with foot in the daytime and see the sky, we can find stars. With these hints we can identify this herb and pluck it removing the curses of herb. If we make the roots dry and crush them into powder. Take verukadi piramanam* amount of that powder and consume it for 48 days, then we can attain kaaya siddhi.

In the next post also, we shall see about some other wonderfulful herbs of the Sathuragiri Mounitain.

Wonderful herbs of the Sathuragiri Mountain: 01

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

So far we have seen about the various rare trees and herbs that is present in the Sathuragiri Mountain. In the upcoming posts, let us see about the information where they are located. Also we will know about their nature and greatness.

Some of the friends have show their disinterest in me sharing these rare information in the public. I wish to answer to those friends. All these are possible for me only under the guidance of a guru. The secrets which are cursed by the Siththars can be known only to those who attempt doing with good heart and with the grace of the guru. Let us know about the herbs.

Mundaga Virutcham

In the northern side of the Mahalinga murthy‘s temple, if we walk for 24 minutes we can find a forest. In the north-west corner of that forest, these trees are present. Though it looks like banyan tree, the leaves are small and the fruits are like kalaththikkaai. If we hit this tree milk sheds.

On drinking half cup of that milk for thirty days, swoon happens. At that time some one should stay with swooned person and has to give the spoon boiled cow’s milk, mixed with honey, often. If they drink this continuously, then the swoon stops.Within a week kaaya siddhi will be attained. The body shines in gold color.

Azhukanni

Next to the tree that is mentioned above i.e. mundaga virutcham, there is a round rock. To its west you will find a damp ground filled with crushed stones. There this herb azhukanni is grown. The leaves of the herb will be like jackfruit pulp. The flower will be yellow in color and the fruit will be like fruit  of climbing nettle. The curse of the herb has to be removed and then pluck it. The root of the herb has to be mixed with cow’s ghee and eating it for 48 days can prevent from the white hairs, wrinkles, diseases and aging.
.
Thozhukanni

From the place mentioned above, moving bit forward we can find this herbthozhukanni. The leaves of the herb looks like willow tree’s leaf. The flower is white in colour and leafstalk is black in color. It will be facing the sun. With these tips, we can identify this herb. Take some leaves of this herb and the thozhukanni herb in equal measures and powder them. Take thirikadi piramanam* quantity of that powder and add cow’s milk to it and drink. You can attain kaaya siddhi.

In next post we shall see about the karpaga virutcham and the sanjeevi herb.

To identify the well with thailam

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

There are so many stories about the thailam well which is hidden in Sathuragiri Mountain. Most of them can be considered as the peak of exaggeration. I have also shared a story about this well in one of my previous post, the story of the thailam’s well in the Sathuragiri

This well which is located behind the temple of the Pilaavadi Karuppanna swamy has not been identified by anyone so far. The remaining herbal mixture that were used to make the Alchemy  has been poured into this well and for protecting, gods were kept. Those gods have made this well invisible to the common people. In this post we shall see certain interesting information about this.

Though we find the information related to this well in many of the books of the Siththars, the information told by Bogar in his book “Bogar Jenana Saagaram” is slightly different. The following song explains about the strucyure and surrounding of the well.

"ஆமடா குகையொன்று வுள்ளேபோகு
aamadaa kugaiyonru vullaepoagu
maayirampaer siththarappaa athiliruppaar

vallavoru karpamellaa mangaethinraar
oamadaa venthanukkung karpameenthaar
uyarnthathoru thayilamellaa managaeyeenhthaar
naamadaa vathilirunthuch siththipetru

nallathoru thayilamellaa moodinaenae
moonaen karuppaniayung kaavalvaiththu
muthalaana porulvaendu menroarkkellaam
thedinae nenrusollith theinthuvanthaal
thirampaarththu yirukkumidanj seppumenraen”

(Bogar)

“There is a big cave in which there would be more than thousands of Siththars. In that cave only Kaalanginathar stayed and ate various kalpas. He gave it to me also. He gave me many rare kind of thailams*. Even I stayed and attained theurgies. Then there is a huge rock that looks like a ship. I put all these thailam varieties into a hole in that rock and hidden them. I have asked Karuppan to protect this hole. If some one comes in the worthy search of the well only, I asked him to reveal it” says Bogar.

Without simply looking for the well behind the Karuppanna Swamy temple if we also look for a cave which can occupy 1000 members and also search for the rock that looks like a ship we can locate the well easily. What did so many Siththars gather at a place and do?  May be that place is meant for research or it may be a place to experiment their inventions or discoveries. As said by Bogar if we pray Karuppanna Swamy and search with pure heart we may find the secret of the thailam well.

The Samadhis hidden in the Sathuragiri Mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

From the songs of Korakkar we have learnt about the Siththars living in the Sathuragiri Mountain, their ashrams and caves. Also we have seen about the god and the temples residing in the Sathuragiri Mountain. And also we have seen about the rare herbs, fountains, ponds, rivers.

One of our friends have asked a question that though the Siththars lived in Sathuragiri Mountain, their samadhis are available all over the Tamil Nadu. While I was searching answer to his question I found an information which I wish to share it here.

Agathiyar in his book “Agathiyar 12000” has told the following:

"ஈயவே யின்னமொரு மார்க்கங்கூர்வேன்
eeyavae yinnamoru maarkkangkoorvaen
yezhilaana sathuragiri maerkaeyappaa
siththaana periyoarthaan thevaridiyappaa
sirappaana siththarpirama munithaanangae
viruppamudan samadhimugam kondaarpaarae"

(Agathiyar)

This song is told by Agathiyar to his disciple Pulathiyar. He says that many of the Siththars, sages have opted the western side of the beautiful Sathuragiri Mountain to attain samadhi*. He also said about that who and all attained samadhi here and also he has told about the way of visiting them.

Definitely this is new information to me. I have never read about it any of the books. I do not understand why such important information was not documented till date.

Let us see the details that who and all attained samadhi in the Sathuragiri Mountain.

"இருந்துமே பாம்பாட்டி சித்தர்தாமும்
irunthumae paambaatti Siththarthaamum
ezhiludanae vanaekanool seithukondu
porunthavae marapponthil samaadhiyaagi"

(Agathiyar)

Agathiyar says that Paambaatti Siththar has sung so many songs and attained at the tree hole in the western side of the sathuragiri Mountain.

"சித்தான சித்துமுனி விடைக்காடார்
siththaana siththamuni vidaikkaadaar
paththiyudan pathangandu naemampoondu
muththiyudan samaadhikku yaegavenru
moorkkamudan malaiyoari mainthaa
vellavae kuththukkal arukilappaa
Irukkamathu samadhimugan kondaarae"

(Agathiyar)

Idaikaattu Siththar for attaining samadhi he climbed the Sathuragiri Mountain and attained Samadhi near the kuththukkal says Agathiyar.

"பாரப்பா திருமூல நாயன்றானும்
paarappaa Thirumoola naayantraanum
paarkkavae vayakkaal mandapanthaan
paangudanae athanarukil paarthaayaanaal
poorkkavae piranavaththaik kaiyiaenthi
Pugazhudanae samadhiyaegi iruppaarangae"

(Agathiyar)

Agathiyar says that Thirumoolar has attained samadhi near to the vaaikkaal mandapam.

Isn’t this interesting information? In this book Agathiyar has told that eleven Siththars have attained samadhi in this Sathuragiri Mountain. Taking the length of the post into consideration, I am sharing about the three Siththars only.  I feel that I can share the rest of the information after collecting some more information so that it would be useful.

Agathiyar has also told the way of identifying these samadhis and seeing them in his book.

"யுத்தமனே சமாதிகாண மார்க்கஞ்சொல்வேன்
yuththamanae samaathikaana maarkkanjolvaen
seyalaana vagasthiyanaar seedanenrum
oppamudan samaathimugam kaanavenrum
meppudanae kaithozhuthu vaenduvaayae
vaendiyae nirkaiyilae unthamakku
pongamudan samaathiyathu thoatrangaanum"

(Agathiyar)

To reach to the samadhis of above mentioned Siththars, Agathiyar says,  “one has to join the hands and pray telling that you are the disciple of Agathiyar and has come to visit the samadhi. Then the samadhi will be visible to you”.

Those who have got the grace of the guru can see these samadhis.

The easiest way to loose all your sins!

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

We can keep on listing out the greatness of the Sathuragiri Mountain. There are so many great things filled around that mountain. I am going to share one such information today.

Action and reaction are the fundamental criterias of the universe. Based on this only everything is functioning. Even human beings need to face the reaction of every action they do. The state of getting rid of all those consequences is the superior state according to the Siththars. It is not possible for everyone to attain this state. It is possible only for those who have got the grace of the guru.

Common people will get rid of this consequence only by facing it. But they can reduce its impact by doing some precautionary actions. I think all the religions has said about the ways to get rid or reduce this consequence. But all these are more expensive as well as practically impossible ones too.

Though the Siththars have given so many explanations about the consequences of our actions, I found an information while exploring about the Sathuragiri Mountian. I wish to share it now. Kaalanginathar has told about it in the following way.

"பெருமையாம் கோரக்கர் குண்டா ஓரம்
Perumaiyaam Korakkar kundaa oaram
pirangum oru theerththamathil neeraadi seithy
arumaiyaam kundaaneer alli unna
seitha paavavinaiyellaam aganrupoamae
Orumaiyaam ullamathil Korakkar thammai
Unniyae thuthiseyya nalvaazhvundaakum"

(Kaalanginathar)

He says that there is theertham* near the Korakkar kundaa* where Korakkar made kanjaa. If we immerse ourselves into the theertham and then drink the pure water in the kundaa, then all the sin that we have done will be washed off. Along with that if we pray to Korakkar we will get all good in our life says Kaalanginathar.

Those who have a chance can attempt to do it.

*theertham – sacred bathing ghat
*kundam (kundaa) – hollow in the ground (for the sacred fires)

Agathiyar told the state of today’s Sathuragiri

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

At the time the Siththars were living, they were staying away from the common people. Their thoughts are liberal which is helpful even till today. We can show many evidences for that in their songs.

Whatever it is, we can clearly understand that the Siththars have created a very strong bond among themselves. The evidences for this are that one Siththar shares about the greatness of the other or recognizes him. We can realize this from the Siththars who were living on the Sathuragiri Mountain who has always shared the good and greatness of the other Siththars living there. Along with this we can also realize that they did not want their researches to reach to people apart from themselves.

Though they say that the reason behind hiding them is to prevent it from reaching the hands of the bad people, I feel there is some other strong reason also. It might also be an opinion that their researches should not reach to the people who did not recognize them. They have told about the various herbs present in the Sathuragiri Mountain. Along with that they have also told that in future, people will come in search of those herbs. As an evidence to this I shall share two songs of Agathiyar.

This song is taken from the book “Agathiyar 12000” where he says the following song to his disciple Pulathiyar.

"சித்தான சித்துமுனி சொரூபரப்பா
Siththaana siththumuni soroorappa
yinnamundu uraippoam kaelu
muththaana Pulathiyanae mudimannaa
moovulagil enrumundu siththarvarkkam
veththiyulla sathugiri vadapaagaththil
enrumiruppaar ranaegam paer naatharthaamum
paththiyudan naathaakka thannaikkaana
paarulakil vegumaanbar poavaarpaarae"

(Agathiyar)

"போவாரே அம்மலையின் அதிசயங்கள்
poavaarae ammaaiyin athisayangal
koadaana koadimooli yanaemundae
yanaiththaiyumaeya zhiththidavae munaivar
maanamudan vaiyagaththil moolivaazha
nalamudanae vegukaalam kaakkavaendi
nalamudanae vegukaaa mirunthukondu
koadiyaam maanbarukku kannilkaanaa
Kunamudanae maraiththaarkal naathaakkalthaanae”

(Agathiyar)

The Siththars are immortal, they can always be seen in the northern side of the Sathuragiri Mountain. People will start visiting the Sathuragiri Mountain to get their blessings. Those people who begin to come will start destroying the wonderful places and the rare herbs. That is the reason why the Siththars have kept the information about these herbs as a secret. Only few herbs that need not be protected are availabe to the people and those which has to be protected are still hidden in the places where these people could not reach.

Today in the Sathuragiri Mountain, this is the situation. As the people are moving around in more number, the forests are being destroyed thereby cutting of these valuable herbs also. But still if we make researches following the instructions of Agathiyar as told in his books, we can know about those herbs.

Agathiyar has also told about the way of identifying these herbs that are hidden. As the length of the post increases, I am not sharing them here.

Can we still see Korakkar in the Sathuragiri Mountain?

Author: தோழி / Labels: , , ,

We have seen the entire Sathuragiri Mountain in the songs of Korakkar. While seeing the information about the ashrams, we feel that all these must have been functioning only. If the answer is yes, then another question arises if all the Siththars he mentioned lived in the same generation. To get answer to all these questions we need to do more researches.

In the songs of Korakkar he has told about the most ancient Siththar Agathiyar’s Kumbamalai cave and his visit to see Agathiyar. In the same way Agathiyar has also told about the way of seeing Korakkar in Sathuragiri Mountain in his songs. Isn’t it interesting? Not only Agathiyar but Kalanginathar also has told about the way of seeing Korakkar in Sathuragiri Mountain.

First let us see about what Agathiyar told about Korakkar in his book “Agathiyar 12000”.

"பெருமையம் சதுரகிரிக் குள்ளேயப்பா
Perumaiyam sathuragirik kullaeyappaa
Parivaana Korakkar kugaiyonrundu
Paththiyudan kugaithanilae paarkkumpoathu
Yenrumae karuvaanaKorakkar angiruppaar
Thelivaana kaatchiyathu yaarkaanbaar
Sirparanae punniyarkku kittumthaane"

(Agathiyar)

He says that the cave of Korakkar is present in the Sathuragiri Mountain and we can find Korakkar if we see into the cave. He also says that those with pure heart can see Korakkar.

Kaalanginathar in his “Kaalanginathar Gnanaviththu Ragasiyam” book has told about Korakkar and the way of visiting him.

"பார்க்கவே கோரக்கர் குண்டாதோன்றும்
Paarkkavae Korakkar kundaathoanrum
Thaerappaa kanjavudan mooli saerthathir kadainthu
Siththar muni ovvoruvarukkum eevaar
Naerappaa athanarugae kugaithaan undu
Yenrum nilaiyaaga sivayogam seivaarangae
Koarappaa Korakkar thammaik kandu
Kondavanae gnanamirtham undoanthaanae"

(Kalanginathar)

In the Sathuragiri mountain there is a pace named Korakkar kundaa* where Korakkar mixed herbs with  kanjaa*. He grinded them and gave to the Siththars. Near to it, his cave is also present. In that cave Korakkar will always be seen in the Sivayoga form. Those who see this will become the one who drank the elixir of wisdom.

Observe that both Agathiyar and Kaalanginathar has told that Korakkar can be seen anytime. The information that these songs give is that anybody who prays to him with pure heart can see him and those who see him will become the one who drank the amritam of perception.

I feel that anybody with the grace of guru, pure heart, eagerness, interest and strivinge can see this great person.

In the next post I shall come up with the details that Siththars told in those days about today’s Sathuragiri Mountain.

*kundam (kundaa) - hollow in the ground (for the sacred fires)
*kanjaa - the leaves and the seed of the Indian hemp

Sathuragiri – Mountain journey: 05

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

The journey to the Sathuragiri Mountain continues in this post also. The guidelines of the Korakkar are very clear and most useful. These songs make us realize that the Siththars were living far from the common people and living in these places where common people do not enter. Let us start our journey from Danvanthiri’s ashram.

If we come from the north of the Danvanthiri’s ashram, we can find a path from the east direction. In that way we will find another way from the south and walk along it. Towards its north side, we can find a mirage. It is named as ‘yamapura kaanal’. To its south, we will find a path towards east and on walking through it, we will find a white Vinayaka’s temple. From there, to a distance an arrow can travel, we will find a sathumbu tharai. To its south we can find the Rajarishi’s forest and his ashram located within it.

If we walk on the straight north of the ashram, there is way which leads to the east direction. Walk along it for 12 minutes,  we will find a forest with beautiful plants. At the centre of that forest we will find the ashram of Konganavar. On its east side we will find the border stone leading to depth. From there walk towards south for 72 minutes, we will find a thapovanam* which is called as maavootru. If we go north of it, we get the border of Udhayagiri. There we can see the ashram of Udhayagiri Siththar.

From there if we walk along the slope for 12 minutes, we will again reach to the border. To its north we can see the ashram of Pirunjaga muni. Towards the north-east direction of thae ashram, we can find the sanjeevi herb. It seems sanjeevi herb will grow only in marsh land.

If we walk towards the direction upside of this marsh land for a distance an arrow can travel, we can find a rock like an elephant sleeping. If we go towards its south for a distance an arrow can travel, we can find gravel land. If we walk towards the straight west of this gravel land, we can see a mountain stream. If we walk for a distance an arrow can travel, we can find a white Vinayaka. If we go near and see, a rock will  be seen. Yet when seen from far, it looks like lord Vinayaka.

From there if we walk for 24 minutes, we will reach Vaadha maedu. Korakkar says that 18 Siththars has tried the Alchemy in the place Vaadha maedu. I shall share its greatness of the place  in another situation.

On the west of Vaadha maedu, we can find the cave of Gnana Siththar. If we walk for 12 minutes on the north side we find a small pit. If we walk to its west on the way, we can find the Kannimaar temple. To its west we can see the temple of Mahalingam. In the way that goes towards north we can find a river. On its south, we can find two ways diverging and if we choose the west side path it would lead to the place where we began our journey that is near to the Thaanipaarai. If we go to the north side way then we find a pond named ‘Kulippatti Poigai’. On its south we can find the border. Near that we can find a tree name paal pattai.

From that tree, if we walk towards west we can find a rock named thirukkaip paarai at a distance an arrow can travel. To its west there is the ashram of Yacab Siththar. In way that runs along the west of Yacob Siththar’s ashram for 48 minutes, we can find the cave of Kaduveli Siththar. If we cross this we can find a black mirage. If we move without entering into it, we can find the wet ground.

From there if walk towards north for 48 minutes, we can find another mirage named ‘thaedik kaanal’. If we go along the path downwards we can find the cave of Azhukani Siththar. To its south we can find the cave of Sivavakkiyar. This is the only place where we can find the caves of two Siththars closer. From there if we walk towards west we reach to the Brahmagiri border. With this Korakkar finishes the journey of Sathuragiri Mountain.

In the upcoming posts we shall see about the information that is filled and hidden in the Sathuragiri Mountain.

Sathuragiri – Mountain journey: 04

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

The narration about  the path to Sathuragairi told by Korakkar in his books “Korakkar Brahma Gnanam” and “Korakkar Malai Vaagadam” continues in this post  also. I am sharing the information by collecting from the thousands of songs. Hence I request you to understand the effort behind doing this (typing). I have also planned to write a research book in future about the Sathuragiri Mountain. At that time I shall attempt writing with the songs.

Let us kick back our journey from the Agathiyar’s cave.

If we cross the cave and walk towards south, you will get the Muneshwaran border. From there if we walk for 48 minutes along the padivetti rock you will see “Kaatraadi maedai”. On crossing it, we will find kodaikkaran stone, mudangi path and kangana River. From the river, at a distance an arrow can travel, there is a fountain named ‘Kuliraati Poigai’. In the south west of this fountain, there is an ashram of Bogar. In the way that runs along the south, you will find a beautiful flower garden. At the centre of it there is an ashramam of Pusundar.

If we cross the ashramam and walk towards the west for 12 minutes, border of depth and manmalai forest is found. If we go along that way we will find Romarishi forest  and iniside that we will find the Romarishi’s ashramam. On the southern side of this ashram in certain distance we will find Yugimuni forest and inside that we will find the Yugimuni’s ashram. On the south side of this ashram there is a rare kind of tree named ‘saaya virutcham’. The shadow of that tree does not fall on the ground. If walk in the west direction from the ashram, we will find the path that runs along the south. If we walk on that path for 12 minutes, we will find a river.

On getting down the river and climbing the elevation, we will find the cottages of  Palinjar.  Near to it, we will find Sundara Llingar’s hut and Sundara Lingam’s temple. On the river that comes on the south of the temple, we will find the cave of Sundaraanandhar. From the way that runs along the south, at certain distance Mahalingar temple is seen. Behind this temple only the “Karpaga tharu”, a tree which is considered as a wonder is present. It will be mentioned in the hidden text as “Panju tharu”.

On the top side of this at cetain distance there is a fountain named ‘vattach sunai’. On the way which goes top of this fountain,  we find a stream running after walking for 12 minutes. There is a mirage and under it, a black rock is seen. In certain distance from that rock, we can find a red soil land. In that land we can find the Sanjeevi herb. This herb has also got another name, ‘yamanai venraan’,  which means that it won the Lord Yama. I feel that if we have the grace of guru we can find all these wonders like Karpaga tharu, Sanjeevi herb and all even today.

On the west direction, we can find the fountain named ‘manjal ootru’. On the northern side of the fountain, at a distance an arrow can travel, we can find the sadhambu tharai. And down the way, we find the damp ground in which the ashramam of Azhagaanandhar is seen.  From there if we come towards east we will again reach back to Mahalingar’s temple. From there if we go towards south we can find the Sannasi vanam. From there walking towards its south for 12 minutes,  we can find a stream and sangili rock.

If we cross that and walk for a long distance we will find the Brahma muni’s ashram, which is  surrounded by many trees. If we climb the mountain in the way that runs towards the south of the ashram, we can see the cave of Kalanginathar. In the slope of that cave, at a distance an arrow can travel, there is a fountain named Dasavaedhi which never dries up. You can read about this in my post Dasavaedhi Udhaga Neer

In the southern direction of the Kalanginathar’s cave at certain distance we can find the Thapasu cave. If we go in the northern side of the cave again, we will reach to the Mahalingar’s temple. Hence move towards east to find the Kannimaar temple and Palinjar’s hut. From there if we walk for 12 minutes, we can find the Nandheesar forest and his ashram in it.

On the northern side of the ashram there is way. On walking through it, on the east side, another road comes and joins. If we walk along it for 12 minutes, that way will takes us to the Palinjar rock and to its south we can find the ashram of Danvanthiri which is surrounded by many trees and plants.

We have seen the ashrams of Pusundar, Romamarishi, Yugimuni, Sundaraanandhar, Azhagaanandhar, Kalanginathar, Nandheesar and Danvanthiri. I feel we can try to reach these places by following these instructions even today.

The surprises continues.

Sathuragiri – Mountain journey: 03

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Korakkar described the journey that began at the thaanippaarai reached the Athiri maharshi’s ashram, Machamuni’s ashram and then brought to his ashram. He has also told about the way of reaching to many other Siththar’s ashram also. We shall continue our journey in this post also as per his narrations.

On the southern side of the Korakkar’s ashram at a certain distance an arrow can travel, there is an herb named “Manjal poothavalai”. In the western side of it, at a distance an arrow can travel, there is a moisture land. From there moving towards north we will find an elevated ground and a stream adjacent to it. Towards the north of the stream we will find a even-surfaced land and a rock next to it.

On the northern side of this stone there is a stream running. On its northern side at a distance an arrow can travel, we can find a herb named “Amuthavalli”. If we walk towards north of this plant, in the way that runs along the east, we will find irattai* lingam says Korakkar. Adjacent to the river which is on the south east of the lingam we can find the ashram of the Ramadevar who is known as Yacob Siththar. Korakkar says that Roma tree and the nagapada aloevera are found around it. Remember about the herbs that I mention in this two paragraphs. I shall share its importance in the later part of this series.

If we walk towards north from the Ramadevar’s ashram, we will find an even-surfaced land on moving towards its east we will reach to the pasukkidai. On crossing that we will find the Navvalootru fountain which will never dry and adjacent to it, a stone will be found. it. He says the snake well is there in the rock. After crossing it on the east at a certain distance we may find slippery rock and a pacharasi maedu* and crossing it we will finf the way to thekkam pannaimalai.

If you walk eastwards along for 24 minutes, there will be small pasukkidai and oppillaa saayai. On crossing that and walking towards east will take you to a jack fruit tree and the Karupanna Swamy temple. I have written about this temple in one of my previous posts. Behind this temple only we can find the thailak kinaru*. It is believed that the thailam used to make alchemy is filled in the well. Those who have got the blessings of Karuppanna swamy only can reach to this well.

After crossing this powerful temple you will find a river. Inside this river only the Paechipaarai is available. If you climb the elevation on the north side you can find the ashram of sage Durvasa. On the east side of this ashram you can find a white rock and the stream of the Santhana Mahalingam Swamy temple. On crossing it and walking towards east you will find three roads junction. In that if we take the path that runs along south you can find the Sundarar temple. Pray to it and on its southern side we will find Mahalinga temple.

If we walk for certain distance towards the north of the temple through a dense forest, you will find an underground passage. On walking along it for 24 minutes, we can find the Santhana Mahalingam temple. On the north side of this temple, water falls from the Kaalikaanal. Only after taking bath in it only, you must pray to Santhana Mahalingam.

Korakkar says that in this temple there are no poojas done by the human, it is all done only by the sages, saints, monks, and Siththars. In the south west side of this temple there is a cave of Sattai muni. In the south side of this cave in certain distance, white jaumoon - plum tree, and on its left side south side, a sand mountain will be there. On south of that mountain, a rare herb named Vanapirami will be found.

If walk on the east side opposite to the Sattai muni’s cave for 24 minutes, it will take towards the way that runs along the north side. On walking for 48 minutes along that way you will find Kumba Mountain. In the cave near to this mountain only, Agathiyar was living says Korakkar.

I shall continue in the next post.

*irattai - twin
*maedu - an elevated ground
*kinaru - well

Sathuragiri – Mountain journey: 02

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Our journey that began at the foot of the Sathuragiri mountain continues even after the Sundaramahalingar’s temple at the top of the mountain to the entire length and width of the mountian. Anyone who has got strength in mind and body can easily travel along a mountain today. All the arrangements for it are done.

But in the olden days when it was a dense forest there was a chance that any body newly travelling may be lost. To prevent such situations only these kind of route notes must been written. I guess that Korakkar might have shared all these details for the benefit of his followers and disciples.

Previously we have reached till the Athiri maharshi’s ashram and we shall continue our journey from there. If we travel towards the east from the ashram for a while we will  get the path of koanavaasal. After crossing that if we climb for some more distance we find the Pasumidhi rock and to the east of that rock we may find a single stone similar to the shape of Lord Ganesha. Pray to it and travel in the east side for 24 minutes, then on the south side of the path, we can see the Machamuni’s ashram at a distance an arrow can travel.

By walking towards the south of the Machamuni's ashram after a short distance, we may face a 'vellai punal murungai' tree, towards its left we can find a even-surfaced rock. On the south side of the rock, we find a stream running and from there, a kaavi is seen at a distance an arrow can travel.  Below to it, a creeper of wildmelon will be spreaded. If we walk towards the south of that creeper,  we will find a kuruvari aloevera. If we walk straight north from there for certain distance we will find a way on the east side. If we climb that elevated place, we find a region of even-surfaced ground. From there if we walk for 24 minutes towards and see south we can find his ashram says Korakkar.

The interesting fact is that Korakkar did not stay in his ashram. In the northern side of the ashram there is a river and if we go along it and see towards the south, in the slope of the mountain we can see his cave. To the east of it, at the center of the river  we will find a kundaa* where the kanjaa* has been made. To the east of it there is a pond which never dries. What a wondering route map!!

In our journey so far we have seen Athiri maharshi’s ashram, Machumuni’s ashram and the Siththars like Korakkar have spotted places exclusively meant for them. They might have stayed in these ashrams with their disciples. All of them might be the people of their generation or the ashram might be maintained by the disciples came in their line which is the question to be researched.

This journey where we move forward by keeping the short distances, directions, rocks, streams, rivers as hints has got much other information also.

In next post we shall explore and reach to Sundara Mahalingam’s temple.

*murungai - drum-stick
*kundam (kundaa) - hollow in the ground (for the sacred fires)
*kanjaa - the leaves and the seed of the Indian hemp
