Self realization @ Control over sense organs

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

"The mortal people gets a stable desire on the uncertain things."

The above line serves as the basis for the self realization.

The five senses are common for human beings and animals. The human being has got an extra capability of analyzing all that has been sensed by the five senses. These senses are being subjected to some conditions. For example, eyes can see but in darkness they cannot see and this is a condition.

The conditions create necessity. They in turn create desires which in turn is the beginning and end for sorrow. The attempt and practice of  avoiding them is always with us.

Like a sculpture who hits the unwanted parts of a rock and forming a statue from it, the real guru identifies the faults and deficiency within us and help us to attain a state where we could realize ourselves.

The song of Idaikaattu Siththar which reveals this truth:

பொன்னிச்சை கொண்டு பூமிமுற்றும் திரிந்தால்
ponnichai kondu bhoomimutrum thirinthaal
mannizhai noakkam vaaikkumoa kalmanamae
poyyaana kalvikatrup porulmayakkam kollaamal
meyyaana gnaanakkalviyinai virumbuvaai kalmanamae

paeykkurangu poalap paerulagil ichaivaiththu
naainarikal poalalainthaal nanmaiyundoa kalmanamae
irumbaiizhuk kungaanthaththu iyarkaipoal palporulai
virumbinathaa; avainilaiyoa? vilambuvaai kalmanamae.

True Wisdom @ Self realization!

Author: தோழி / Labels:

We have seen a lot about the Siththars science. In the upcoming posts, we shall see about my understanding about the Siththar's self realization.

The light from the lamp keeps glowing in serene without disturbed by its surrounding, is an ecstasy to experience. That light does not preserve anything for itself. The nature of the light is to keep glowing until it is there.  Please observe it for the next time and it will be a new experience.

The Siththars are also like this light from the lamp. They are people with kind hearted and everlasting love. As a light of a lamp which glows to all without any difference, Siththars will shower the blessings to all the disciples who are surrendering them.

Our tody's topic, self realization is the source for attaining such a great knowledge which the Siththars posses. Our religious centres has immersed a internal feeling that the self realization is very tricky and confusing, possible only to a few of them. As per my experience selfrealization is possible for anyone who has interest and humbleness.

The Siththars have wrote in their books about the stages of the self realization in a simple way. We shall see them in the upcoming posts.

12000 (Agathiyar 12000)

He says." Oh my student Pulathiya! Listen. I am saying about the greatness of the Bhuvanagiri mountain.

This mountain has got many dense forests. Also there are many caves and fountains in the mountains. Also it is believed that many Siththars have done meditation here and attained jeeva samadhi.

He also says that at the foothills of this mountain, there is a stage and there is a underground cellar attached to that stage and the path to enter it has been explained to him by Asuwini.

The way narrated by Asuwini is very subtle. He says that if we go there, underground cellalar will lead you to a cave and if we enter the cave, there will be a God who serves as protector for the cave. The God enquires about you and answer him that you are the disciple of Agathiyar then he will let you go inside and will also take care of you.

Also he have clearly explained the details about the cave. We shall see all those details in another situation.

With this, the series of the mountain of the Siththars comes to an end. Most of them has asked that I have not written about the Sadhuragiri mountain. I cannot write about that mountain in one single post. Hence I shall take up that topic in another situation.

I shall meet you with another information in the next post.

Mountain of the Siththars – Naaga mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels:

In Tamilnadu there are many mountains in the name 'naaga'. A mountain near Salem, Madurai and Thiruchengoadu are also called as naaga mountain only.

The naaga mountain that I am going to share in this post is located in the feet of the Podhigai mountain. The following song is narrated by Agathiyar to his disciple Pulathiyar.

12000 (Agathiyar 12000)

This mountain is a fertile land made up of a kind of mud named savittu mud and there are stones also. We can see a variety of stone named andakkal in lot. He also says that those stones are used to make calcium and this land is called as “Alarbhoomi”.

He also says that many Siththars reside under the foothills of the naaga mountain and also there are many caves present with their entrances seen.

He also says that those who are interested to visit the Siththars will come to this cave. And the Siththars would receive them by giving the kaya kalpa and bless them.

In the next post we shall see about the Bhuvanagiri mountain.

Mountain of the Siththars – Anjana mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels:

In the Kamba Ramayanam’s aaranya kaandam, there is a situation where Rama worries and cries on gazing the the dead body of Saadayu who has been died after the fight with Ravana. That situation has been narrated by Kambar in the following way:

துள்ளி, ஓங்கு செந் தாமரை நயனங்கள் சொரிய,
thulli, oangu sen thaamarai nayanangal soriya,

velli oangalil anjana malai ena, veezhnthaan.

(Kambar)

This post is about the Anjana mountain which has been used in the comparison where he says that Rama cried by falling on the dead body of Sadaayu.

By comparing this mountain with Lord Rama who is blue in color, it is believed that the mountain must also be in blue or black color only. It might also been a mountain filled up with the stones of anjanam* about which we have seen in our recent posts. All these are totally my guess only. If somebody who knows all these detail, explain to me. So that I shall also know about it.

Also we found a song as Agathiyar was telling the greatness of this mountain in the book “Agathiyar 12000”.

12000 (Agathiyar 12000)

He says, "Oh my student!  Listen. I am saying about the greatness of the anjana mountain.

In the western side, towards north this anjana mountain is located. At the centre of the mountain the Vaemana mandapam is located and next to it there is a Kunnu stone and following it, there is a cave and at the end of the cave there is a pond. It is believed that the Siththars and sages would meditate around it."

He also says that there is a fort in the peak of the mountain which is surrounded by the rocks and it cannot be seen from the distance. A cave is hidden behind that fort's pillar and called as the fort of the sages. The entrance of that cave is known to the Siththars only. And also he says that those who are with the blessings of the Siththars only one can see the entrance of the cave.

It is believed that because of the curse of a sage that fort is covered with mud and the rest of the part has been demolished by itself as days passed. He adds that now a river is oozed out and flowing around that fort. Isn’t it surprising??

In next post we shall see about the “Naaga mountain”.

Mountain of the Siththars - Viraali Mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels:

Viraali mountain is located in Tamilnadu, near Trichy i.e., in the Madurai - Trichy highway. This Viraali mountain which was a dense forest has now become a developed city.

In this mountain there is a temple of Lord Muruga that is believed as being built in the 10th century. Arunagirinathar has wrote about this Lord Muruga in his book “Thirupugazh” in eighteen songs, by reading them we can know the greatness of this temple.

Also we found a song as Agathiyar was telling the greatness of the mountain to his disciple Pulathiyar in the book “Agathiyar 12000”. But surprisingly we could not find any information about this temple.

12000 (Agathiyar 12000)

There is a mountain named viraali. Siththars and saints will live there for very lone period. There is a fountain in the mountain. Nobody can easily see that fountain. He says that there is udhaga neer also in that mountain.

In the top of the Viraali mountain, there is a temple of Lord Vinayaka. To the north side of this temple there is a tree named kalaala and near that there is a hall and after crossing it, there is a canal named puliyirangu. Near to that hall there is a black amla tree. It is believed that Paranjothi, a sage has been doing meditation under that tree.

Also it is believed that the sage who did the meditation under that tree has wrote a book named “Gnana nool” and he has told that the book should not reach to the hands of the common people because if it reaches to them then the number of Siththars will increase rapidly and hence he has cursed the book and hidden it behind a rock cave.

He has also said that if someone comes to that mountain with the blessings of the guru and if he finds the book, he is the most blessed one.

In the next post we shall see about the Anjana mountain.

Mountain of the Siththars - Agathiyar Mountain

Author: தோழி / Labels:

As per the information we got the Siththars were living away from the common people. For their search of wisdom and scientific researches, Siththars might have got the natural places like mountains and the places around it.

On that note, the various mountains in Tamilnadu are the places where the Siththars were living. It is believed that the Siththars still live in those places. Most of the Siththars themselves has explained about the greatness of the mountains they were living in their songs.

We shall see some of those mountains where the Siththars were living. First let us see about the Agathiyar Mountain where Agathiyar was living.

The Agathiyar mountains are located in the Western ghats which is around Malabar, Kerala. The other names of this mountain is Podhigai mountain, Tamil mountain, South mountain, Malaiyamaa mountain, Malaiyam mountain. The river Thamirabharani starts from this mountain only.

Agathiyar in his song says about that mountain in the following way:

"வித்தனாம் புலத்தியனே இன்னஞ்சொல்வேன்
viththanaam Pulaththiyanae innanjsolvaen
sirappadanae irulakatrunj sooriyanpoal

virpanamaai vanhthathoru maanparukku
viruppamudan gnaanoapa deasanjeyya."

12000 (Agathiyar 12000)

Agathiyar says, "Oh my student Pulathiyan! Like the sun who removes the darkness I am saying about the wealth of my mountain listen. In future many people who wants to attain mukthi and see the Siththars will come to my mountain. Also many crores of Siththarss will reside in the feet of this mountain. The common people will come to visit those Siththars and will serve for them. Siththars too will be happy by their service and show them the path for wisdom".

Now, there is a statue of Agathiyar and every year it is been worshipped with proper rituals.

In the next post we shall see about the Viraali mountain.

Who is Yogar?

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Yogar, the hero of this post is not as famous as the Siththar Bogar. But he is being worshipped as one among the seventeen Siththars of Eezham.

He can speak out his opinions and thoughts sharply. He says about the Siva thaththuvam in the following way:

"சிவத்தியானஞ் செய் செய் செய்
Sivaththiyaananj sei sei sei
Sivamae naamenal mei mei mei
avani anaiththum poi poi poi
athanai arinthu ui ui ui"

(Yogar Swamikal)

In another song, he says about the way how he attained the blessings of the guru in the following way:

"யாரடாநீ யென்று அதட்டினான்
yaaradaanee yenru athattinaan
anraeyaan petraen arul"

He has got the greatness of attaining the blessings of the guru by his Guru's single word.

The advice of Yogar about the meditation is a clear one and has got a deeper meaning in it. He says that, “One who strongly desires to keep his mind in control should do meditating everyday”.

He says the favourable atmosphere for doing the meditation is sitting in padmasana posture, place with purity and silent surrounding. Likewise moderate food, moderate sleep and moderate exercises are the ways of leading a life.

Also he says that the meditation does not mean to think about anything but to keep the mind concentrated without thinking anything.

"சித்திரக்காரன் தீட்டிய தீபம் போல்
siththirakkaaran theettiya theebam poal
niththiya vasthuvil ninaippum marappumara
muththiyi lirukkum murai"

We could not find more information about him. But he is considered as the most important Siththar among the Eezham Siththars.

  • Those who are born in the month of margazhi, will be in ruling authority.
  • Those who are born in the month of thuy, will be simple person.
  • Those who are born in the month of maasi, will become makara Siththars.
  • Those who are born in the month of panguni, will become gnani.
On saying this he also says that no body will share all these and those who removes the ego of “me” only will attain the salvation (feet of the Siva).

A method to see the Siththars

Author: தோழி / Labels:

It is an unbelievable fact. We have found many songs that reveals the method to see the Siththars in person. There may be any other hidden meaning behind these songs, which I could not understand. I am just sharing the information that I understood.

In today’s post I shall share one of the song of Agathiyar from the book “Agathiyar poorana soothiram”.

"அதிகமாய் சித்தர்களைநீ தெரிசிக்க தானே
athigamaai siththarkalainee therisikka thaanae
thiyaanam onru solvaen kaelu kaelu
sivaaya nama oam kileem enru sebi
varisikkum siththathellaam veliyil kaanum
magaththaana siththarappaa vanangi nillu
parisikkum padi avaraik kaanpaayappaa
panithiduvaai paathaththil sirasu thatta
kirisikkum yaar noolil saarnthae enru
kaetkil agatheesurar kirubai ennu"

(Agathiyar)

He begans saying, I shall tell out a meditation that could make you to see Siththars.

If we meditate and chant the mantra “Om Kileem Sivaaya Nama”, we can see the Siththars and if they appear, they may appear in the mockery form only and on seeing them immediately we need to bow ourselves and put our head onto their feet and worship them. Also when they ask how you knew about this method, tell him that you learnt it from the Agathiyar book, says Agathiyar.

Isn't it an unbelievable fact?

The people who has got interest can attempt to do this under the guidance of a guru with his blessings.

Nandheesar” says about the qualities of a person knowing one’s effect based on the month of birth. We shall see those details in the next post.

Applying the mai to the betel leaf

Author: தோழி / Labels:

Mai - black pigment

In the olden days if any of our belongings are stolen or if some one is affected by the bad spirit, if we go to the local sorcerer, he will apply the ink to the betel leaf and find the person who stole the thing or the person who did the voodoo can be identified. Even today this is in practice at some parts of the country.

The idea of this post is not to look behind the possibilities and impossiblities of this. I just shared the song told by Pulipaani Siththar in the book “Palathirattu soothiram”.

"பாரப்பா நிலவானை மலைகள் தோறும்
paarappaa nilavaanai malaikal thoarum
panbaagath thaanirukka marinthu paaru
vaarappaa vathinudaiya viraiyaith thaanum
valamaagap paththupala meduththu vanthu
seeraappaa thalaimanjal kodiyu maavunj
sirappaaga muppaaga muppoovum varaakal koottith
thaerappaa villaithatti yularap poadu
thiramaaga yularththiyathaith thayilam vaangae"

(Pulipaani)

We can find a plant named nilavaagai (Cassia angustifolia) in the mountains. Take 350g seeds of that plant and add 4g of thalai manjal creeper’s flour, 4g of muppoo and grind them and make them into small pieces and let them dry. Dissolve them to make kuzhith thailam out of it and preserve it.

"வாங்கியே ஆள்காட்டி முட்டை தன்னை
vaangiyae aalkaatti muttai thannai
valamaana sitrandath thayilam poalae
thaangiyae vaangiyanthath thayila naerae
thayavaagath thaaneththuch simizhithanil vaaiththu
oangiyae kalavumuthar soonyam yaavum
utruppaar thoatrumadaa kalla mellaam
neengiye yathukan pidiththuk kondu
ninaivaagak gurupaatham panivaaith thaanae"

(Pulipaani)

Make thailam like sitrandaith thailam (a kind of oil) from the eggs of the sparrow named aalkkaatti and with this thailam mix up the kuzhith thailam that we have prepared sometime back and preserve it.

If we any of our belongings are stolen or if some one is affected by the bad spirit to find the person who stole the thing or the person who did the voodoo take the betel leaf and apply the preserved thailam and think about the guru and pray to him and see the person responsible in the leaf says Pulipaani.

In the next post I shall see you with the information to make the Siththars appear told by Agathiyar.

What is Anjanakkal?

Author: தோழி / Labels:

We can find the information about the anjanakkal in the “Bogar 12000” book of Bhogar. Thi stone which is of white and blue colour has other names like “Neelanjanam” and “Karumaakal”.

In India this stone is found in Punjab, Andhra and south Tamilnadu. These are found in improper shape and it is easily breakable. They will not dissolve in water.

Bogar has told that they are of six types.

Saveeranjanam
Rasaanjanam
Rakthaanjanam
Suroathanjanam
Neelanjanam
Pushpanjanam

Among them, neelanjanam is found easily now-a-days and rest of them are very rare to find. It is used for external use only in the Siddha medicines. We can find many evidences regarding this in the books.

In the Siddha medicine, it has been used for curing problems like eye pain, dried tongue, wounds, convulsions, urinary disease. A part from this it is used for doing mantras and preparing mai* in vasiyams.

The ancient ladies have used the anjanams by grinding them and apply them under the eyes, near the eyebrows. They used it to protect the eyes from the sun’s heat, dark circles and add beauty to the eyes. Even today this anjanam is found in the ayurvedic medicine shops.

In the next post, I shall share the information about another interesting mai.

An easy way to attain mukthi!!

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Mukthi - salvation/final emancipation

Our Siththars believe that based on the good and bad, one does in his life time, he takes re-birth and faces all the corresponding results either good or bad. It is also considered that this cycle continues until one faces the results for all the sins he performed. To get relieved from all these sins and lead an entirely happy life is known as attaining mukthi.

Attaining mukthi refers to a very high state of achievement. One can attain this state only after a very hard practise and attempts. If we attain success in all the eight stages of yoga, only then we can attain mukthi. We have already seen about it in the previous posts.

Paambaatti Siththar in one of his song has told about a way to attain mukthi. Here is the following song,

thiralaana poariloosi thaeddal poalmuththi
sikkaathu thaesaasaara thesigar thammaal
arulaana moolaguru avar seyalaal
aanantham kanoam enru aadaai paambae!

(Paambaatti Siththar)

In a war field, where people are fighting with their troops, if we drop a needle and try to search it we may not find it. Like wise it is not easy to attain mukthi. Though we make many hard attempts and practises we cannot attain mukthi very immediately.

Also we need to possess the blessings of all the Siththars and the blessings of guru only we can attain mukthi. Also with their great blessings of them, celebrate the joy says Paambaatti Siththar. The information that one can attain mukthi with the blessings of a guru is a very new one to all of us.

Note:- The greatness of the Paambaatti Siththar's songs are that they are very simpler and easy that anyone can understand. But the sorrowful fact is that we have got only 129 songs of Paambaatti Siththar.

Animals in the Siddha medicine

Author: தோழி / Labels:

There are two types of medicines in the Siddha medicine namely, “Agamarundhu” and “Pura marundhu”. Based on the nature and intensity of the disease these medicines are prescribed. It is known that they are of 64 types. All these medicines are done with the help of the natural products.

In this line, the animals, birds, insects were also used as medicines. The horns, body parts, saliva, excretory, bones, oil, skin, tusk, and many other parts can be used as medicines, vasiyam and manthreegam.

Now let us see certain things that have been obtained from various animals.

Kasthoori (Musk-deer)

In the chest of the kavarimaan (roe deer) there is a part named kasthoori, it is preserved and then used.

Korosanai (Bezoar)

The fat like thing present near the liver of the cow is called as Korosanai. This is yellow in color. It is dried and used.

Punugu (Civet)

There are many kinds of cats, one among them is the palm civet. Its sperm is used as punugu.

Savvaadhu

This is also a kind of sperm of a cat only and it will be very sticky and slippery to touch.

Amber

This gets released from the whale that lives in the sea when it undergoes sexual intercourse, this will come floating on to the land. This is taken, dried and used.

There are many things like the oil of peacock, eggs of the birds, body, and the ghee that is obtained from the crocodile, snake’s poison, and saliva of pigeon in the songs of the Siththars. The Siththars have converted them into the required form and utilized them.

How to find the secret?

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

Mostly we have known that the Siththars songs are like a puzzle and depth in meaning. Based on the vocabulary knowledge of the person reading it, they take the meaning from them. But there is always not a single opinion among the linguistic scholars.

It is a fact that there are hundreds of songs, for which the meanings are still not known. We can also see that many language experts also struggle at a point to explain a particular book or a song.

Why such a situation?

Can't anybody tell about the explanation for the songs of the Siththars?

What is the reason that pulls us back from learning the meaning of these songs?

The Siththars alone answer for this.

"கோர்வையாம் நூற்களெல்லா மறைப்பு மெத்த
koarvaiyaam noorkalellaa maraippu meththa
kotravanae paadivaiththaar lakkaeyillai

naermaiiyaam perunoolunj sirunoolumaaga
naermaiyudan paadivaiththar rananthangoadi
naervaiyaai noolellaam saapangeduththu
nedithaagap paadivaiththar siththarellaam"

(Agathiyar)

"இட்டாரே நூலாதி நூல்களெல்லா

மெழிலுடனே சாபமது மிகவேகொண்டு
mezhiludanae saabamathu migavaekondu

theerkkamudan thaan koduththu thiramaipoondaar
attanava loagamathai neetravaendi
paadivaiththaar pala koadi paadalkalae"

(Agathiyar)

"அட்டமாசித்தியெல்லா முலகத்தோர்க்கு
attamaasiththiyellaa mulagaththoarkku
adukkadukkaayulavinuda vivaramellaa

enmaele sinangondu noolukkappaa
kattalaiyittanarae saabanhthannai"

(Karuvoorar)

Also, there is a fact that the books of the Siththars have been cursed and those who do the rituals to get rid of that curse only can understand the exact meaning of it. Hence those who want to know the meaning of the songs can attempt to learn the way of getting rid from the curses under the guidance of a guru and learn the exact meaning of the song or the book.

Isn't this a surprising information?

Vaippup paashanam!!

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

Bogar in his book "Bogar 12000" has wrote about two types of paashanams. The first category of paashanam is "Piravip paashanam" and the other is "Vaippup paashanam".

Vaippu is a method which is used in the siddha medicine and alchemy. According to this, the low level metals, or things can be converted to a higher level of things. In other words, we can say that the naturally found materials can be converted into artificial ones. Such vaippu paashanam which are formed in this way have been used by the Siththars. Bogar has mentioned about 32 types of such paashanams.

They are,

Puthoatti vaippup paashanam
Pon thotti vaippup paashanam
Sepputh thotti vaippup paashanam
Indira vaippup paashanam
Naaga vaippup paashanam
Ilavana vaippup paashanam
Kaasu vaippup paashanam
Soara vaippup paashanam
Kenthaga vaippup paashanam
Neela vaippup paashanam
Sootha vaippup paashanam
Thaila vaippup paashanam
Irasidha vaippup paashanam
Kunguma vaippup paashanam
Thuththa vaippup paashanam
Thurusu vaippup paashanam
Iraththa vaippup paashanam
Panjapatchi vaippup paashanam
Koada soori vaippup paashanam
Pavalap putru vaippup paashanam
Aridhaara vaippup paashanam
Vaaranakendhi vaippup paashanam
Kozhiththalai kanthi vaippup paashanam
Yerumainath thotti vaippup paashanam
Savveera vaippup paashanam
Vellai vaippup paashanam
Theemurugal vaippup paashanam
Karumugil vaippup paashanam
Saathilingam vaippup paashanam
Miruthaarsingi vaippup paashanam
Iraththasingi vaippup paashanam
Aemasingi vaippup paashanam

Practically only few of them can be prepared. All the methods of preparation are written in a hidden manner in the songs. This method can be achieved successfully under the guidance of a guru. There are still certain rare methods of preparing the paashanams.

But these methods have been hidden with their hereditary itself and getting destroyed. The vaippup paashanam is not a story or imagination. A chemistry that has been evolved with proper planning. If we try to implement them in a correct way, then we can retain that particular method. Many things that the modern science is struggling to achieve has been used by the Siththars in those days only. It is the responsibility and duty of every Tamilian to attempt to retain these methods that are disappearing.

In the post I shall catch up with a entirely new topic.

What is Piravip paashanam?

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

Bogar has very clearly told about the paashanam, its nature, form, capability, types and their uses in the book "Bogar 12000".  As this has been told with hidden meaning, the researches has got  many difference of opinion among themselves. Identifying the meaning of those which is written in hidden meaning is a kind of art only. I shall try writing about it as a separate post only.

Bogar has classified these paashanams mainly into two categories. They are "Piravip paashanam" and "Vaippup paashanam". The Piravi paashanam are found in nature only. He says that there are 32 types of them under this category. We can find them from the various kinds of minerals, herbs, many other living organisms also in various forms.

Now let us see the list of 32 kinds of paashanams.

Kartakap paashanam
Vellaip paashanam
Abiragap paashanam
Karamugilp paashanam
Silaa matha paashanam
Seethangap paashanam
Kachchaalap paashanam
Anjanap paashanam
Karp paashanam
Karparip paashanam
Saalangap paashanam
Avupalap paashanam
Silaip paashanam
Thaalagap paashanam
Sara kaandap paashanam
Ilingap paashanam
Kaanthap paashanam
Palandurugap paashanam
Thuththap paashanam
Gowrip paashanam
Sangup paashanam
Kuthiraipparp paashanam
Thottip paashanam
Sirapandhap paashanam
Amirthap paashanam
Thaalambap paashanam
Vaigiranthap paashanam
Veerap paashanam
Kenthagap paashanam
Miruthaarap paashanam
Soothap paashanam
Koalagap paashanam

From their names only we can understand in which form they are present.  Each one of them has got their own unique features. About this also Bogar has written in his book. Among them few of them are in use now-a-days.

On doing further researches, we may get to know about the other paashanams told by Bogar. So I request all of you to involve in making searches to know about them or help those who attempt to know them and help for the welfare of the people.

In the next post we shall see about the other category of paashanam, "Vaippup paashanam".

What is Paashanam?

Author: தோழி / Labels: , ,

Paashanam - arsenics

Paashanam is one among the important materials for the siddha medicine.  When we listen to the word paashanam, the next thing that strikes our mind is the lord who rules the Pazhani mountain, Dhandayuthapaani and Bogar who created him. We have heard that Bogar has made the idol by combining the nine types of paashanams. This post is mainly about the paashanam only.

The Siththars have used these paashanams as an important raw material in their siddha medicine. This has been used in the alchemy also. It is in solid form like metals and has got the poisonous nature of the poison. This paashanam is a general name only, there are many types in it.

These paashanams are poisonous in nature, hence it may lead to death on consuming them. But the Siththars in those days itself has changed its nature and used them as medicines. You might remember about the allopathy method that has converted the snake's poison as medicine after spending a lot of money. This is also a wonder among the many wonders that Siththarss made to the world.

We might have heard many exaggerations about the paashanam. There are many questions and doubts about this that from where these exaggerations arose. Bogar has very clearly told about the paashanam in the book "Bogar 12000". Bogar has classified these paashanams mainly into two categories. They are "Piravi paashanam" and "Vaippu paashanam".

The Piravi paashanam are found in nature only. But the Vaippu paashanam are formed as a result of combining many kinds of metals. There are many other paashanams present under these two categories.

In the next post we shall see about the Piravi paashanam and their types.

Linga mudra, Rudhra mudra

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Linga mudra

As shown in the picture, hold both the hands together so that the fingers are joined with each other. Raise the left hand thumb finger only. The palm of both the hands should stay in contact with each other. This is called as Linga mudhra. This can be done for 15 - 20 minutes.

By doing this mudra, one with over weight can lose his weight and reach to a lesser weight. Also this mudra will be the best remedy for cold.

Danvanthiri has warned that people with any problems related to stomach should not do this.

Rudhra mudra

As shown in the picture, join the tip of the thumb, index and ring finger and stretch the middle finger and little finger. This is called as Rudhra mudhra. This can be done for 10 - 15 minutes.

For people with low immunity power and those who are weak, this will give strength to the body.

Anybody can attempt to do these mudras, there are no restrictions. It is even more effective if we sit in padmasanam and do all the mudhras. As per the time mentioned for each of the mudhras, if we keep on doing them we can definitely acheive the benefits. If we do this under the supervision of a guru, it would result with better results. Though there are many mudhras told by Danavanthiri I have chosen a few of
them and told here. I also have an idea of writing these mudhras as an e-book. Taking into consideration about the excitement for the post, I shall stop the sequence of rudhras here and shall continue in some other situation.

We shall see the next post with a new title.

Anusaasan mudra, Garuda mudra

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Anusaasan mudra

Keep the index finger stretched and join the middle, ring,l ittle fingers with the thumb finger and this is called as anusaasan mudra. This can be done for 15 - 20 minutes.

The immunity of the body increases and the mind and body gets relief. The back bone also gets stronger. The tooth ache will also reduce.

Garuda mudra

As shown in the above picture, place the right hand above the left hand and join the thumb finger of both the hands, then if we stretch the other fingers then it is only garuda mudra. This can be done for 5 - 10 minutes.

The strain of mind and body will be relieved and they will be relaxed. The memory power increases. Also the problems pertaining to vision will be resolved and the vision becomes sharper. If we do this before eating (empty stomach) we can attain more benefits.

In the next post we shall see about the mudra that helps in losing weight, relieving from cold, and to keep the heart strong.

Mukula mudra, Surabhi mudra

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Mukula mudra

This is one of the simpler mudras. The thumb finger should press the tip of all the other fingers, this is only called as mukula mudhra. Press gently without giving force.

If any part of our body is affected by a disease or injured, then place this mudra close to it and for five minutes keep all your concentration on it, with this the part will get strength and also get rid of the disease.

The main functioning of this mudra is to unite all the panjapoothas and give the strength that the affected part needs.

Surabhi mudra

This mudra is little confusing. We should do it with extra attention.

As shown in the picture, the thumb finger of both the hands should not touch each other. The tip of the right hand’s index finger should stay in contact with the tip of the left hand’s middle finger and the tip of the left hand’s index finger should stay in contact with the tip of the right hand’s index finger. The tip of the right hand’s ring finger should stay in contact with the tip of the left hand’s little finger and the tip of the left hand’s little finger should stay in contact with the tip of the right hand’s ring finger. Need not apply more strain on the fingers while keeping them in touch.

This mudra will cure the kidney problems that will make the body strenghten. He also says that this mudra is most suitable for those who practice yoga.

We shall se the mudras that helps to get rid of the problems regarding eye-sight, increase the memory power and reduce the tooth ache.

Gnana mudra, Kubera Mudra

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

Gnana mudra

As shown in the picture, the tip of the index finger has to be pressed tightly by the thumb finger, and the rest three fingers has to be stretched straightly, this is called as gnana mudra. This can be done as long as you wish to.

As the thumb finger refers to fire and the index finger refers to wind both these together will remove the bad thoughts from the mind and take to a state of wisdom says Danavanthiri.  Also anger, patience, adamant nature will be disappeared. The capability of learning anything quickly will increase.

If we do this gnana mudhra along with meditation then many theurgies can be attained.

Kubera mudra

As shown in the picture, the tip of the index finger and middle finger has to be pressed by the thumb finger, this is called as kubera mudra. Press the fingers gently. This can be done for 10 – 15 minutes.

This will unite the strength of fire, wind, sky and convert into a power that helps in achieving whatever we think. With this the life becomes better, hence it is called as kubera mudra.

We shall see the rare mudras that cure diseases in the next post.

Anjali mudra, Sangu mudra

Author: தோழி / Labels: ,

The art of mudra which cures the body quickly has become an art because of the ancient Tamilians. But the sorrowful fact is that today we need to know about it from a different language. My humble request is that please share the information that this art belongs to the ancient Tamilians.

In the sequence of the mudras, firstly, joining both the hands and saying vanakkam is also a mudra only. Danvanthiri says this as anjali mudra. He says that everybody should worship the guru and the god who gave them the knowledge and do this mudra.

As shown in the picture, join the fingers of both the hands with each other. By placing this joined hands close to the heart, close the eyes, bend the head slightly, pray for 10 - 15 minutes in standing position.

In our body, the right side is considered as lord Siva and the left side as goddess Sakthi. While we pray by joining both the hands a new sakthi (enrgy) gets created within us and will make the prana sakthi to be present within us.

Note: Those who pray to god with affection should keep this mudra close to the heart, those who pray with mind should keep it straight to the fore-head, those who pray to reach god should keep it above the head.

Sangu mudra

Place the thumb finger of the left hand in the palm of the right hand, and hold the left thumb with the rest four fingers in the right hand. The thumb finger of the right hand should touch the four fingers of the leftt hand. This is called Sangu mudhra (picture is given above).

This can be done for 15-20 minutes.

The thumb finger controls the fire, one of the panjapoothas and this unites the rest of the four panjapoothas. This is the way this mudra functions says Danvanthiri. This mudra makes the manipoora chakra function properly and makes the voice fine. Thereby the throat problems, stuttering speech  will be resolved.

In the next post we shall see about the mudra that helps in attaining success in a work and getting betterment in life.
