Bogar in his book "Bogar 12000" has wrote about two types of paashanams. The first category of paashanam is "Piravip paashanam" and the other is "Vaippup paashanam".
Vaippu is a method which is used in the siddha medicine and alchemy. According to this, the low level metals, or things can be converted to a higher level of things. In other words, we can say that the naturally found materials can be converted into artificial ones. Such vaippu paashanam which are formed in this way have been used by the Siththars. Bogar has mentioned about 32 types of such paashanams.
They are,
Puthoatti vaippup paashanam
Pon thotti vaippup paashanam
Sepputh thotti vaippup paashanam
Indira vaippup paashanam
Naaga vaippup paashanam
Ilavana vaippup paashanam
Kaasu vaippup paashanam
Soara vaippup paashanam
Kenthaga vaippup paashanam
Neela vaippup paashanam
Sootha vaippup paashanam
Thaila vaippup paashanam
Irasidha vaippup paashanam
Kunguma vaippup paashanam
Thuththa vaippup paashanam
Thurusu vaippup paashanam
Iraththa vaippup paashanam
Panjapatchi vaippup paashanam
Koada soori vaippup paashanam
Pavalap putru vaippup paashanam
Aridhaara vaippup paashanam
Vaaranakendhi vaippup paashanam
Kozhiththalai kanthi vaippup paashanam
Yerumainath thotti vaippup paashanam
Savveera vaippup paashanam
Vellai vaippup paashanam
Theemurugal vaippup paashanam
Karumugil vaippup paashanam
Saathilingam vaippup paashanam
Miruthaarsingi vaippup paashanam
Iraththasingi vaippup paashanam
Aemasingi vaippup paashanam
Practically only few of them can be prepared. All the methods of preparation are written in a hidden manner in the songs. This method can be achieved successfully under the guidance of a guru. There are still certain rare methods of preparing the paashanams.
But these methods have been hidden with their hereditary itself and getting destroyed. The vaippup paashanam is not a story or imagination. A chemistry that has been evolved with proper planning. If we try to implement them in a correct way, then we can retain that particular method. Many things that the modern science is struggling to achieve has been used by the Siththars in those days only. It is the responsibility and duty of every Tamilian to attempt to retain these methods that are disappearing.
In the post I shall catch up with a entirely new topic.
