God and Darshan

In the previous post, we have seen the basic information concerning darshan. According to our spiritual practice,  darshan purely denotes the seeing of God.

Even in our epics, glimpse of God is daintily portrayed which ultimately results in creating goose-flesh. The description of God’s darshanis as follows; human appearance with 4 hands, wearing ornaments made up of gold, diamond equivalent to his weight, floating in the light with gracious look in the face.

Is this God’s darshan?

Whoever certainly knows the appearance of God?

We have seen and believe the God’s appearance through the imagination of stone carving artesian and through the feel of painting artists.

Truly, how god will look like? What are his bodily structures?

Actually, our ancestors gave us many answers on this regard. But, in my opinion, those information were not elaborately told. So, everyone started to believe the god in human related forms. For example, we will see the structure of God told by Nammaazhvaar, one of the Aazhvaar of  vaishnava.

aanallan pennallan allathu aliyummallan
kaanalamukaan ullanallan illaiyallan
paenungkaal paenum uruvaakum allanumaama
koanai perithudaithu em pemmaanaik kooruthalae.

God was not a male, neither a female nor transgender. He cannot be seen, neither existable nor un-existable. He might have some structure as per ones’s own imagination or may be structure less.

Slightly confusing isn’t!! But, according to Nammaazhwaar, this is how he describes God. How promising words?

This is what, Siththars told about darshan. Agathiyar explaining the magnificence of darshan as follows;

"மாண்டு சடம் போகமல் தெளிவதெப்போ
maandu sadam poakaamal thelivatheppoa
makathaalana arivathilae vaazhvatheppoa
poondukonda aasaiyathu ozhivatheppoa
pollaatha maaikaivittu nirpavatheppoa
aandukonda kaamavalai aruppatheppoa
alaichalattru nirpatheppoa ayyaaayyaa
thaandiyantha nilaiyathilae manathainaatti
sathaanantha poathumaaka therisanampaarae.”

When is that we become conscious about not being corpse after death?
When is that we live getting superior wisdom?
When is that we get rid of our delusions?
When is that we cut down the lust which rules us?
When is that unsteady mind rests in serenity?

Agathiyar asked the above series of questions and giving us the explanation as follows.

In order to get free from the above all states and to attain highest gracious stage, one must stay focus in one the forms which will ultimately results in certain darshan. We will be in ecstatic state if, we get darshan.

Agathiyar explained that, there are 16 types of darshan and this will remove one from his earthly happiness and makes him to achieve and feel the high ecstatic state.

What are those 16 darshan?

Further information will be seen in the upcoming post.
