The amulet is nothing but an ornament containing the mantra plate. These are made for satisfying the individual’s wishes and expectations. Usually they are in the form of a small round shaped metal. Inside this a yantra was kept which has been activated with mantras.

The yantra that is kept in the amulet and the yantra that are used for praying in the poojas are different from each other. The yantra that are kept in the amulet are usually of smaller size. Also along with this we add some kinds of oil, root, thiruneeru*, civet and kept them in the amulet. Yantras that we enclose in the amulet, they act based on the behavior of some persons possessing it. But the yantras that we keep it in a single place for praying have got lot of power.

Across the world, people of different communities and customs have been using these amulet since a long time. Even the Siththars with their own unique methods, were possessing many kind of amulets in practice.

Out of which, most of them were made for the benefit of their disciples only.  To protect them from the dangerous animals and creatures that takes their lives, they have been making the medicinal amulets and used it. The methods of making them have been a secret. They have told all these information in their songs.

Right now we find many of the amulets that they sell for commercial purposes are fake ones. As these fake amulets do not cause any positive impact to the people, they started to have negative opinion about these amulets. But those made by the Siththars with their blessings has got lot of power. We shall see about these in detail in some other situation.
