Sundaranandhar was the grand-son of Navakanda Rishi who lived in Kishkinthai. He was born in agamudaiyar caste. These were said about Sundaranandhar by Bogar. He was called as Sundaranandhar since he had got a handsome look (Sundaram – beauty). He was also called as Vallaba Siththar. In his early days, as per his parents wish, he underwent a normal life. After overwhelmed by Sattai Muni, he went with him. He received the linga, which was worshipped by Agathiyar, and enshrined it in Sathuragiri and had worshipped it.
“சொல்லவே சுந்தரானந்த ரப்பா
sollave Sundaranandha rappa
தொல்லுலகில் கேசரியாம் வித்தை தன்னை
thollulagil kesariyaam viththai thannai
புல்லவே அதீதமென்ற மாண்பருக்கு
pullave atheethamenra maanbarukku
புகழுடனே புகட்டியதோர் சித்துமாகும்
pugazhudane pugattiyathore siththumaagum.”

Sundaranandhar sothida kaaviyam, Sundaranandhar vaithiya thirattu, Sundaranandhar thaandagam, Sundaranandhar mooppu, Sundaranandhar sivayoga gnanam, Sundaranandhar athisiya kaaraanam, Sundaranandhar pooja vithi, Sundaranandhar theetchavithi, Sundaranandhar suththa gnanam, Sundaranandhar kesari, SUndaranandhar vaakiya soothiram, Sundaranandhar kaaviyam, Sundaranandhar visha nivaarani were the books said to be written by him.
His sepulcher was said to be in the premises of Madurai Meenatshi temple.
