Pulipaani was one of the disciples of Bogar. It was said to be that he belonged to pon vanigar caste. When Bogar made Pazhani Murugan’s statue using nine arsenice materials, it was said that Pulipaani had assisted him.
Before Bogar attained Samadhi*, he called Pulipaani and obliged him to undertake the rituals of Pazhani temple after him.
“ஆள்தவே காலங்கி கடாட்சத்தாலே
aalthave kaalangi kadatchathaale
அப்பனே வேங்கை தனில் ஏறிக்கொண்டு
appane vengai thanil earikondu
தாழ்நித்டவே ஜலம் திரட்டி புனிதவானும்
thaazhinthadave jalam thiratti punithavaanum
சாங்கமுடன் தரணியிலே சுற்றிவந்தான்
saangamudan tharaniyile sutrivanthaan.”

Pulipaani vaithiyam 500, Pulipaani sothidam 300, Pulipaani jaalam 325, Pulipaani vaithiya soothiram 200, Pulipaani pooja vithi 50, Pulipaani sanmuga poojai 30, Pulipaani simizh vithai 25, Pulipaani soothira naanam 12, Pulipaani soothiram 9 were said to be books written by him.
*Samidhi - Intense Yogic contemplation of becoming oneness with God.
