Those who try to seek God in outer world are called devotees and those who have realised God in himself/herself or have attained Godly state are called Siththars, says Devaram.
People who develop utmost spirituality in their earthly body attain a heavenly status and become like Gods among regular people. They are Siththars, says Mee. Pa. Somasundaram.
Those who control breathing and focus mind on Mooladhara and raise Kundalini through Yoga energy are called Siththars, says The. Po.Meenakshi Sundaram.

neriyin aatriya arivan
says Tholkapiyan in his book, ‘Purathinaiyiyal’. Nachinarkiniyar explains it as, “One who does not possess desire, hatred and illusion; and who follows normative in all the three types of times (past, present and future) is called Arivar”. He adds Agathiyar is one such Arivar. So Nachinikiniyar states that Tholkapiyar referred to Siththars as Arivar. From this we know that Siththars were called Arivars during Tholkapiyar‘s times.
