The references about Sattai Muni were found in books like Sathuragiri thala puranam, Bogar 7000 and Agathiyar 12000.

Usually, Siththar songs were hard to decode as it was written with hidden meaning. But Sattai Muni written his experiences in such a way that could be understood by anyone.

He was always seen in woollen shirt and hence he was called as Sattai Muni. Sattai, in Tamil, means shirt. It was said to be that he was disciple of Bogar.

Sattai Muni unmai vilakkam 51, Sattai Muni karpam 100, Sattai Muni nigandu 1200, Sattai Muni mun gnanam pin gnanam 200, Sattai Muni vaagadam 200, Sattai Muni sarakku vaippu 500, Sattai Muni vaatha kaaviyam 1000, Sattai Muni navarathina vaippu were books said to be written by him.

His sepulcher was said to be in Seerkazhi.
