Let us see the vishuddha chakra today, which is fifth chakra from muladhara. Agathiyar explains it as follows;

aachappaa vanaakathathi nodukkanjonnoam
araiyukiraen visuththiyi nadavaikkaelu
maachappa vatharkumael pannirendangulam
paachappa pathinaaru yithazhthaa naakum
paalakanae atchranthaan vakaaramaakum
vathunaduvil sathaasivanum saakiniyumaamae.

(Agathiyar)

The basic power centre of this chakra lies at the bottom of throat and in the suzhumunai naadi. This vishuddha chakra is connected to the organs of human body such as throat, trachea/ wind pipe, thyroid gland, lungs and hand.

This chakra symbolizes the letter ‘VA’ of “SIVAYANAMA” and explains its significance. The principal god of vishuddha chakra is Lord Sadhaashiva and principal goddess is Saakini. This symbolizes the space among five basic elements. The moolamantra is “hum”.

From this chakra emerges 12 yoga naadis which resembles petals of lotus flower. The motion of those naadis are noted by sounds which are denoted as following letters; lu-ruu, ru-oo, va-ee, e-ah, ah-ah, am-aow, o-ai, aeh-loo. There lies secret behind the number of lotus petals which I will discuss at the end of this Kundalini series.

Given below is the likely image of vishuddha chakra as per Agathiyar’s words.

On keeping this chakra in mind along with continuous chanting of moolamantra, the Agni Kundalini which lies in anahata chakra will start rise and reach vishuddha chakra. According to Siththars, this meditation stage is refered as “aakasha thaaranai”.

Due to the blossom of this chakra, all thoughts which might cause bad effects and ill feelings will all get vanished from practitioner. This will make that person to listen everything impartial without having likeness and unlikeness.  At this stage, self pride will get vanished and practitioner is filled with love and benevolence.

Till now, the chakras we have seen denote the wisdom of aakasha thaththuvam. However, the upcoming two chakras symbolizes manasa thaththuvam.
