Today, we will see about ajna chakra, which is the sixth power centre from moolathara chakra. Agathiyar describe it as follows;

aalvaayae yaathaaranj sochangaelae
arulinoam visuththi yaakkinaiyaikaelu
paalvayae itharkumael pathinaarangulanthaan
paalakanae kandamaar puruvamaakum
maalvaayae malavaaki yalavaakloangi
makaththaana yirandithalaai pirinthae nirkum
yaelvaayae vatsaranthaan nirandathaakum
ithanaduvil yakaara maakinai veedaamae.

(Agathiyar)

This chakra lies in brain at the line of concurrence to centre of eye brow. To be more accurate, it is concurrent to the notch knot of our forehead. This point is termed as thirikoodam. Like other chakra, this ajna chakra also lies in suzhumunai naadi.

This chakra symbolizes the letter “YA” of panchatchara letters “SI VA YA NA MA” and explains its significance. Its principal element is fire and it is related to eyes and forehead of the human body.

In ajna chakra lies two yoga naadis opposite to each other similar to lotus petals. This is correlated to structures of sun and moon. The letters ha, la are used to represent the sound of naadis due to motion.

Given below is likely image of ajna chakra as per Agathiyar’s words.

The principal god is Lord Paramashiva and principal goddess is Vaakini. Moolamantra for this chakra is “Om”. On positioning mind in ajna chakra and chanting the moolamantra continuously, the Kundalini energy in vishuddha chakra get escalated and reaches ajna chakra.

The blossoming of ajna chakra is normally termed as opening of inner eye/ third eye. In this blossomed stage, activities  like the concentration, awakeness, memory of practitioner will get tremendously increased. This is the highest state where, one can get all knowledge about life.
