In our society, there is strong belief that completeness of women comes with motherly hood. There comes general talking concerning maternal delivery of a mother as “every mother has come across her rebirth in her every maternal delivery”.
The manternal delivery involves two types according to modern allopathy medicinal system viz,
Modern medical field put forth many theoretical assumptions regarding the reason for failure of normal delivery.
Due to above unmanageable condition, doctors prescribe for caesarian delivery in order to save mother and child. This is called emergency caesarian section.
It may be an easy task in this technological era but, few hundred years before there was not any evolution of allopathy medicine and mothers of those period might face above all discussed problems. This post aims to give out the information about what cure our ancestors have used to overcome those difficulties.
As far as I searched, I do not get a clue about caesarian section in Siththars songs. However, plenty of information regarding hurdles in normal delivery can be seen in songs. Moreover they also mentioned the cure for these problems in their songs.
In that series, let us see the Agathiyars notes in his book “Agathiyar Paripooranam” as follows;
காணடா பிறவியது னோக்குதற்கு
kaanadaa piraviyathu noakkutharkku

Take the north going root of plant called sundai and roll it as ring with gracious blessings from guru, then apply turmeric on that root. Then, put it on the finger of leg of the concerned women which result it normal delivery. Similarly, take the root of Cissus quadrangularis (Pirandai) and Cassia fistula (Konnai) plant and grind it well. Give the paste to maternal lady, which helps her to give birth by normal section.
Giving the paste, mixture of liquorice (Athimathuram) and honey to maternal women results in normal delivery.
Interesting and easy information right!! Since, all these are my field of career; I thought of collecting the concerned information and do the research in future.
