The Siththars are also called as “Mounaguru”. And the theetchai offered by them is called as “Mouna theetchai”. It means that the Guru remains calm and makes the disciple to realize the blessing through his conscious. Silence is a higher state in the self realization.
The Siththars have categorized the silence into three types. One state is to keep the body unmoved, the other is to keep the mouth shut and the third type is to keep the mind focused. Among these keeping the mind concentrated is the best.
To our knowledge keeping the mouth shut is considered as silence. But the fact is that it is the beginning stage of silence. Either externally or internally, avoiding the sounds is not possible. The sounds never stop themselves. We cannot stop them also. But we can stay away from sound and remain in silence. This is only considered as silence.
If we prevent ourselves from the external sounds we can enter the state of silence. Because of this silence, there won’t be any use. Though the surroundings are calm, the mind and the conscious keeps making sound.
But maintaining silence in mind leads to self realization. If we could fill the conscious and mind in silence, it is the high state of attaining wisdom. In a deeper silence state we can understand the new dimensions and its perspectives.
