Uchaaranam or Uchaadanam is one among the asta karma of Siththars. This is comparatively the most strong-minded and perilous art. Readers can refresh about the types of mantra chant.
There is lot many matters to share regarding uchaadanam. However, in this post we will see about the uchaadanam in Siththars view. Basically uchaadanam means mastering the art of chanting mantra.
In Siththars usage, uchaadanam is used as a defensive art. They taught their students too in same way. The vibrations formed during chanting mantras are used to protect their body and surroundings.
Let us see about the preparation for practicing ‘uchaadanam’.
The principal god of uchaadanam is Niruthi. The moolamantra is ‘Om vayanamasi sriyum ariom aiyum suvaaka’.
One should start practicing on thursday facing south west direction.
Tulsi bead chain is used to wear and tulsi rosary should be used for chanting purpose.
Veppalai (Wrightia tinctoria) plank is used for seating purpose. White dead nettle flower is used for performing archanai* on yantra.
One should wear panjavarna* silk cloth and also wear it to yantra. Yantra is made up of silver or copper plate in order to attain siddhi in uchaadanam.
