Mantrika or maantrikam in Tamil, is an unique and vast part in the siththalogy. Here I would like to share some details about mantrika in its own natural way without adding superfluous matters. I am pleased to receive any valuable error if notified by readers. First in this introduction part, we will see the societal view regarding mantrika.
Almost all of us fears about mantrika since we brought up with that negative thought from our childhood itself. Moreover, society will not allow common man to learn mantrika because it is believed that practicing mantrika is a wrong thing. And also it is performed by dangerous bad persons. We commonly have our opinion regarding the person who performs mantrika as they have horrible face and do offensive things. We all believes that mantrika is combination of sorcery and witchcraft, aeval (commanding the demons), vaippu (artificial illusion performed by demons) and vasiyam* which are performed for controlling a man to do things according to one’s desire. Now with this technological development in the world, most of us
will not believe mantrika and hence we refuse to accept it.
We have to accept the fact that no one is ready to discuss in open or to perform research on mantrika in this era. Even if someone is interested to explore or do this, they will definitely be ill-treated by the society.
This post is definitely not aimed to show the definiteness of mantrika. However, I would like to give the evolution of the art mantrika and its allied studies and discuss its usefulness for societal welfare in this series.If this post changes the negative attitude of the people regarding mantrika, then there lies the success of this post.
