Mantra is the basis of Mantrika. Mantrika depends on how well we are using the mantra. This
form of chanting such important mantras can be called as Uchaadanam. Siththars further divides uchaadanam into four types which are, Urai, Mantham, Maanatham and Suththa maanatham. Each one is used for unique purposes. In this post, we will see the introduction of these four types.

Urai (Chanting out loud)

Chanting the mantra in loud voice so that it can be heard by everyone around is called “Urai”. This gives benefit only to chanting person or to the concerned person whose names are told along with Mantras. It is the form followed in Temple where our names and further details are asked by temple priest.

Mantham (Mumbling)

Mantham is the form where mantras are chanted in such a way, it is heard only by chanting person. This method of chanting is beneficial to oneself and those around that chanting person.

Maanatham (Thinking in mind)

Thinking or chanting mantra in mind without opening the lips is called Maanatham. This form of chanting is beneficial to oneself, people around and all other living beings around that chanting person. This chanting need more amount of focus.

Suththa maanatham (Substantial deep mind chanting)

In suththa maanatham, the person understands the true meaning of mantra and hence its liveliness and features are felt and then it is chanted. This form of chanting leads to higher level and hence it gives eternal life. Moreover, the power acquired through this chanting can
be bestowed to others.
