We have already seen that, noakku varmam is one among the 4 types of varma art. This noakku varmam is also called as “meitheendaak kalai”, means the art without touching the body. Siththars advised this art to use only during the anavoidable emergency situation.

This basic aim of this art is to self defense against the opposition party either man or animal, by mere vision on them which make them disabled. However, this is possible only on the person within specified short range. No one can win over the person who got excelled in this art. This is why, guru will not teach this art to any of his student easily.

Another reason behind the restriction in teaching this art is; what if student learnt this art completely and over a period of time student himself gets into pride and opposes guru? Gurus always have this suspicion and taught the fine part of art only to family members and teach the rest to students.

Kindly note certain sentences like: “kan thirushti (evil eye)”, “kan paduthal (affected by the evil eye)”, “ketta paarvai (evil vision)”, “oru parvaiyil saptha naadiyum odunguthal (restraining all naadis to single look)” are commonly used among public. We can treat this as evidence to reminiscence of noakku varmam.

The art which is taught to Chinese by Buddhist monk is exactly our art called “mey theendaakalai”. Now a days this art is called as “Dim Mak” by Chinese.

Similarly, the modified version of this art is called as “Aikido” in Japan, which is self defense art.

Our Tamil Nadu is the birth place of this wide spread art. This is art of Tamilians however, almost every one forgotten this art or no one is aware of this art. Now we have only the pride of this art’s antiqueness and this is worst part here. Volunteers and government officials should come forward and dig out the concerned information and must restore its glory.

How noakku varmam is performed? What are those varma points? What we can do with these noakku varmam? Let us see in the upcoming post with answer for above mentioned questions.
